What We Do

What we do

Community-Based Health Services

We bring TB, HIV, and related health services closer to those who need them most. This includes active case finding, household contact tracing, and mobile outreach in hard-to-reach areas. Our trained Community Health Workers (CHWs) identify cases, provide health education, and connect people to respectful, timely care. We integrate TB, HIV, and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, recognising the overlap of health needs at the community level.

Community Empowerment and Mobilisation

Sustainable health starts with empowered communities. We support local leaders, Key and Vulnerable Populations (KVPs), TB survivors, youth, and women through awareness campaigns, peer education, and community dialogues. These efforts enhance accountability, build local capacity, and foster long-term change driven by communities themselves.

Patient-Centred Support and Care

We support people affected by TB and HIV throughout their care journey, offering counselling, household visits, re-engagement of people lost to follow-up, and linking them to treatment and psychosocial support. We also foster socio-economic empowerment through training in income-generating activities to reduce the financial burden of illnesses.

Gender Equality and Health Equity

We tackle gender-based barriers to care by addressing the needs of women, girls, and marginalised groups. Our approach includes training female CHWs, engaging men and boys to shift harmful norms, and ensuring inclusivity and equity in health responses.

Climate Resilience and Emergency Preparedness

In the face of climate change and pandemics, TTCN strengthens community resilience. We integrate TB/HIV services into emergency responses, support care during disasters, and advocate for including TB/HIV in disaster preparedness. Our CHWs are trained for crisis response, while climate-health risk mapping safeguards the most vulnerable.

Stigma Reduction and Human Rights

We fight stigma and advance dignity through education, advocacy, and community-led monitoring. Using digital tools like OneImpact TBKiganjani, we empower communities to report barriers to care. By amplifying the voices of people affected by TB and HIV, we ensure policies and programs are people-centred and rights-based.

Policy and Budget Advocacy

TTCN shapes national health strategies and budgets by ensuring community perspectives are heard. We participate in technical working groups, convene grassroots consultations, and generate evidence for advocacy. Our goal is to ensure that public health investments reflect real community needs.

Knowledge, Innovation, and Learning

As a hub for TB/HIV and community health knowledge, we develop tools, communication resources, and training materials. We document best practices, champion digital innovations, and facilitate learning exchanges to improve community-led health programming in Tanzania continuously.
